Tire data

Tire data decides the search: why EU label, OE and DOT matter in a B2B shop

A generic shop system knows articles. A tire shop must know tires: dimensions, indices, label values, OE markings and DOT. What happens when that data is missing.

A dealer with a customer in the workshop types a size into the search: width, aspect ratio, rim. Then he narrows by segment, load and speed index, maybe by the OE marking the vehicle maker requires. If the data behind the search is incomplete, the right tire does not appear, even if it is in your warehouse.

What a generic shop system does not know

A generic shop system has no tire knowledge. Wholesalers who use one end up building and maintaining what tire trade needs themselves:

  • Tire search by width, aspect ratio, rim, segment, load and speed index
  • EU label values for rolling resistance, wet grip and noise, kept up to date
  • OE markings that show which tire a vehicle maker approved
  • DOT data on the production date
  • Images, feature explanations, test results and datasheets

Where the data comes from

The Tiredatabase combines EPREL, the European product database for tire labels, with about 20 directly connected manufacturers: 300,000+ tires in total. Nearly all premium manufacturers deliver by API and are therefore up to date, often already at market launch. Budget manufacturers often deliver through regular file imports. Where a source is incomplete, our data team adds the missing data.

Who owns which field

Your ERP

Price, stock and article number always come from your ERP. Nothing overwrites them.

The Tiredatabase

Technical data, label values, images and documents, maintained centrally for you.

Your rule

For every other field you decide when the Tiredatabase may overwrite your value, for example only where your field is empty.

Three numbers that show the state of your catalogue

  1. Match rate: which share of your articles can be matched to a complete tire record. In well-maintained systems it reaches 98 %.
  2. Empty fields: how many records lack a label value, an index or an image.
  3. Searches without a result: what dealers looked for and did not find. This number shows gaps in data and in range at the same time.

Articles that cannot be matched go to our data team, which sources the missing data. You do not have to chase it, and new tires from file-based manufacturers trigger an alert so that a tire is fully described when it reaches dealers.
